ABOUT Dr. Regina Rodman

Dr Regina Rodman is a facial plastic surgeon who specializes in bony contouring of the head and neck. On the body affirming surgery team, Dr. Rodman performs forehead reduction, jaw contouring, chin contouring, V-line surgery, and Adam’s apple reduction. She did her residency in Otolaryngology (ENT surgery) at the University of Texas Houston where she was chief resident her final year, and was voted as resident of the year for her outstanding performance. She was then selected to do advanced training in facial plastic, reconstructive and craniomaxillofacial surgery at SUNY Upstate in New York. Her fellowship is the one of the only facial plastic fellowships that focuses on craniofacial surgery as well as complex head and neck reconstruction. Because of her unique background in craniofacial surgery as well as cosmetic surgery, she is one of the few surgeons in the area able to perform a range of procedures that enhance both bony and soft tissue problems.

“I believe that everyone deserves to feel good about the way they look. Whether someone is born with a defect, had cancer, trauma, or simply wishes to improve some aspect their face, I will work with them achieve an appearance that makes them happy.“

Dr Rodman sees her role as surgeon as part of helping people on their journey of health and wellness. Outside of her busy clinical schedule, she makes time for exercise. She has played multiple sports including rugby, soccer, kickboxing, run marathons, adventure races, and is currently training as a competitive crossfit athlete. She trains out of gym in Houston, but has participated in crossfit competitions throughout the United States.

Although Dr Rodman is an outstanding physician, she did not start her career as a doctor. As an undergraduate she studied cultural anthropology, and applied this background to work in social services, managing a group home before deciding to pursue medicine. She says “I think my background in social work makes me compassionate and gives me a different perspective on health care.”

Since deciding on a career as surgeon, she has authored multiple articles on reconstructive surgery for clinical review, peer reviewed journals, as well as multiple chapters in plastic surgery textbooks. She has given presentations at meetings across the country and has been the invited speaker at several academic institutions. She has been awarded leadership grants by the American Academy of Otolaryngology and her work in basic science research won first place at the Houston Society of Otolaryngology Resident Research Competition.

In addition to the clinical care Dr. Rodman provides for transgender patients, she is an advocate for her patients at county and states medical associations. She was appointed as the young physician representative (Western Branch) to the Harris County Medical Society, and serves as a voting member of the Texas Medical Association House of Delegates. She strongly believes that all individuals have the right to excellent healthcare, regardless of race, sex, gender, sexual orientation or age.
